Stella Law MA, PhD.

Stella is a highly experienced analyst and researcher with a broad range of experience in social and health care, community research and policy development. Trained originally as a research scientist, Stella worked for several years in leading-edge astrophysics research, before moving into operational research with the Civil Service. During her time as a senior project manager with the Department of Health she became closely involved with the national evaluation of the then newly introduced community care reforms, including taking a lead role in coordinating population needs assessment work at a national level.
Stella has worked as an independent consultant since 1996, mostly with Care Equation of which she is a founding Director; as such she has undertaken a range of projects for the Department of Health, local and health authorities and voluntary organisations, particularly in the areas of needs assessment, evaluation, research and analysis. She also works as a counsellor and is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Karin Janzon MSc, Socionom

Karin is a social researcher, analyst and planner with extensive experience of research, policy development, planning and performance review in social services and at the interface of social and health care. She originally trained as a social worker and, following an MSc in Social Research, moved into research, policy development and planning, working for over 20 years in a range of local authorities. As a senior manager at county council level she contributed nationally to the development of strategic planning methods, population needs assessment, and eligibility criteria.
Since setting up as an independent consultant in 1996, Karin has undertaken a wide range of research and development projects for the Department of Health, local authorities, health agencies and voluntary organisations. Since 2007 she has also played a major part in the development of the Planning4care strategic needs assessment tool – a joint initiative by the Care Equation and OCSI consultancies.
